Art AdamsArt trained for three months with the Air Force Manning Pool in Toronto before being sent to Technical Training School in St. Thomas for six months. He was then posted to St. John's Newfoundland, but the day he was scheduled to leave, he was re-routed to Dauphin Manitoba. This series of events was the first of four times he considered himself lucky during the War. The POWs made their own entertainment by putting on stage plays
Just as Shakespeare actors did in their day, the POWs performed the roles of both men and women on stage.
It certainly wasn't the Ritz, but it was important to bath whenever you could.
The toilet for the POWs was mound of dirt with a hole in it.
Considered by many to be the best soldiers in the world, the Gerkas from Nepal always preferred flying with the Royal Canadian Air Force instead of U.S. or British Air Forces.
