Stan DarchOnce in Scotland, they boarded a train to Aldershot, as Stan describes it, "the hell hole of Britain". It had been a military town for hundreds of years, and the barracks were old, dirty and deplorable. This, combined with the attitude of the natives of Aldershot, made their stay there cold and uncomfortable. Hastings was a much better place because the natives loved the Canadians.
